Overview

The Project Engineer will provide a supporting role to the project manager on a large utility telecom project and is accountable for the project’s success. Additionally, this Project Engineer will provide support in the planning, PMM, contract compliance and execution of the project including resolving issues, training, mentoring and coaching.

 

This position is located in the Southwest Region of Michigan.

Major Job Elements

  • Reports to the Project Manager for the Project.
  • Responsible for information processes, procedures, systems, and data integrity.
  • Responsible to clearly identify any and all issues requiring PM attention along with their urgency and overall impact to the project.
  • Ensures that all information is collected and processed accurately, analyzed effectively, and disseminated timely to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Support to Project Manager on Financial and contract compliance.
  • Responsible for establishing, organizing and maintaining project documentation.
  • Responsible to timely identify any pending or actual changes to the work performed to the PM that may impact costs, schedule, and contract or customer relationship.
  • Assembles punch list in cooperation with the customer and ensuring timely completion of outstanding items.
  • Organizes and files all site documents.
  • Tracks equipment and other resources.

Qualifications

  • BS degree preferred in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, formal Project Management foundation coursework, or knowledge and experience in Industry PM Methods.
  • Experience / knowledge of operations, construction, design, finance and management required.
  • Thorough understanding of utility industry practices, operations, contract administration, contract management, processes, and standards, with emphasis on telecom business.
  • Proficient understanding of CPM scheduling and software applications (Primavera, MS Project).
  • Travel is required for this position.
