H&M is seeking a Cabling supervisor to join our team working at a client location in Columbia, MD.


The Cabling Supervisor serves a tactical role within H&M’s Project Management group. The Cabling Supervisor is the on-site construction point of contact representing H&M, reporting to the Cabling Manager. This position is responsible for the management of construction activities according to contract, scope, and schedule, supporting the Cabling Manager in obtaining the best possible financial result of the project. This position is responsible for ensuring that specific goals and plans are prioritized, organized, and accomplished by field crews.


The Cabling Supervisor role will include understanding how to develop relationships, form alliances, manage conflicts with a positive results, and accomplish the work on time and on budget. The Cabling Supervisor will build safety into every activity safe-guarding the public, our customers, our employees and the environment from harm due to our operations, as well as adhere to all occupational safety and health related laws and governmental regulations applicable to these operations.




Major Job Elements

  • Assists the Cabling Manager in meeting of all project completion schedules, labor and material cost budgets as directed. This may consist of multiple projects simultaneously, depending upon size and/or duration.
  • Ability to run a project of at least 7 – 15 personnel with minimal direction from the Cabling Group Manager.
  • Maintains daily time, material and event record for job status information and provides documentation reports and information to the Cabling Group Manager/Cabling Engineer/Cabling Manager as directed.
  • Insures the accuracy of time sheets for those employees working directly for him/her.
  • Completes any disciplinary actions necessary for any of his/her direct reports with the assistance of the Cabling Manager.
  • Develops work around procedures for maintaining crew productivity during delays caused by other trades, customer/client, lack of materials or absenteeism in conjunction with the project schedule.
  • Assists in realizing changes to the scope of work and keeping the Cabling Manager updated.
  • Furthers oneself through on-going education; either corporate or specialty courses.
  • Assures and enforces a comprehensive safety program in accordance with the company’s commitment to provide every employee with a safe and healthy work environment.

Completes/performs weekly Safety Coaching Observations in accordance to company policy.



  • Required Clearance: Top Secret/SCI with FS Poly
  • Must have demonstrated supervisory experience in network or voice/data system installations.
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge or reading blueprints, specifications and system documentation.
  • Experience in commonly used installation, termination, testing procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of associated hardware, equipment and specifications as they pertain to network topologies and/or telecommunication voice/data systems.
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) as well as the ability to estimate scheduling of material and labor.
  • Must have a High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of ten (10) years technical experience in commonly used installation, termination, testing procedures and standards.
  • A valid BICSI Technician Certificate is required.   Five (5) additional years’ experience may be substituted for certification.
  • Provide team leadership, in depth knowledge of termination equipment, methodologies and splicing techniques.
  • Knowledge of associated hardware, equipment and specifications as they pertain to network topologies and/or telecommunication voice/data systems.
  • Areas of knowledge must include the physical ability to lift 50 pounds, cable termination, testing, cable rack preparation, layout and installation, and documentation.

This position requires the ability to work in an office setting, as well as, on active construction sites. This position includes, but is not limited to, time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders, lifting requirements of 25+ lbs. and may include some manual labor.   Candidates should only apply if they are capable of working in these conditions.
