The R&D Engineeris responsible for exploring new and innovative ways to perform utility construction. This role requires a questioning and entrepreneurial mindset as well as a passion for technology.  As a member of the Lean Construction team, the R&D Engineer will also be responsible for educating, promoting, and building the culture of continuous improvement company wide. 


Job Location: Headquarters: Blue Bell, PA


Travel: Anticipated travel is 15%



Major Job Elements

  • Perform literature searches to help identify emerging utility industry trends
  • Perform University research reviews and evaluate for H&M applications
  • Evaluate new construction tools, techniques, and technologies for H&M use
  • Follow and share innovation trends and topics by conducting research, networking, and attending conferences
  • Work closely with assigned business lines and regions to identify improvement opportunities for reducing cost, improving efficiency and productivity
  • Conduct time and motion studies to identify waste and potential improvement opportunities
  • Collect and Analyze data to support business decisions
  • Test new ideas using DMADV or DMADV derivative type methodology
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering required
  • Utility Infrastructure (UI) industry segment work experience is preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in the construction industry is preferred
  • Experience in R & D is preferred
