Overview

The Safety Professional at Henkels & McCoy serves in a dual role; where the initial objective is to operate in a consultative capacity, by providing expert support, guidance, and motivation to operations management and employees at all levels. In addition, along with management, the Safety Professional at H&M is expected to be a “hands on” partner in delivering various safety initiatives and programs specifically to develop a safety culture supporting the goal and daily mission that “Nobody Gets Hurt” in the course of any work performed by H&M.

Major Job Elements

  • Travel to respected site throughout the Region to provide safety expertise and support to the office staff and operations teams.
  • Work with management to establish safety expectations and goals and lead deployment.
  • Take a lead role in development and/or improvement in job safety/hazard analyses, safety audit systems and standard work development.
  • Outline and lead safety training
  • Involvement in incident investigations and developing lessons learned.
  • Develop and participate in Office Safety Committee.
  • Lead change in the safety culture to drive down injury rates and increase moral.
  • Administer and provide update recommendations to both the Region and Corporate Safety Managers with regards to the Safety Program, ensuring that rules and policies are in effect.

 

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in an Occupational Safety and Health discipline (e.g. OS&H Management, Human Factors, Construction) from a four-year college or university

 

General Experience:

A minimum of 3 years safety experience (prefer Utility Construction experience).

  • Thorough understanding of the OSHA regulations and how to apply them.
  • Must possess clear written and verbal communication skills as well as organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical manner.
  • Good time management skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • First Aid/CPR as well as OSHA 500 certifications a plus.
