Overview:

H&M NetWorks helps companies navigate the complexities of creating, managing, and maintaining their IT resources. Our capabilities in design, planning, and execution are employed in areas such as data centers, structured cabling, wireless, voice telephony, and video/IP video. By maintaining a focus on quality, strong project management, productivity, and safety, we consistently deliver projects exceeding customer expectations. We are currently looking for an Area Manager (AM) for the Washington Capital Region.  The AM will be responsible for all aspects of a $3 to $10 million dollar area or regional structured cabling business. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in managing a Profit center and familiar with business processes to include: Accounts receivable and payables, revenue generation, overhead management, cost containment, contract negotiations, implementation of and adherence to standard operating procedures and business development. In addition candidates should have Project Management experience with and thorough working knowledge of RFP's, contracts, blueprints, project specifications, and system documentation. Must possess strong business development and marketing skills. Experienced in the development of proposals, both technical and cost and statements of work and in managing and leading a team.



Major Job Elements:
  • Responsible for business development to meet or exceed the revenue and profit goals as established in the fiscal year business plan. Work with the director in the development and implementation of a strategic plan to contact key businesses in targeted vertical markets.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of key relationships with decision makers within those targeted organizations. Processes will include but not be limited to, cold calling, face to face visits and networking via industry and community functions. 
  • Scheduling and conducting weekly face to face appointments with new prospective customers, of 2 per week. Schedule and conduct weekly face to face appointments with existing accounts, minimum of 2 per week.
  • Develops, monitors and meets Area operating and Profit budgets. Responsible for overall profitability of the profit center and has approval authority on project material and administrative expenditures for guidelines set by the corporation. 
  • Responsible for management and supervision of office administrative, sales, estimating and operational management staff, provide leadership through actions and mentoring.
  • Provides direction and counseling to operations manager, project managers, and supervisors on standard operating procedures and corporate policy updates. Insures the quality of workmanship, safety and documentation per corporate and division safety and quality guidelines. 
  • Performs annual performance evaluations and initiates disciplinary action if required for direct reports and provides assistance and counseling others in the organization when necessary.
  • Constantly monitors project equipment and operational budgets vs. actual to assure area P&L, overheads and field margins meet or exceed estimates.
  • Also may work independently performing site surveys, estimating, proposal preparation, or quality assurance. Provides documentation, reports, and information to division management as directed.
  • Provides routine customer interface while on site performing on site project, quality assurance checks, and required management safety audits.
  • Provides direction and leadership to all area personnel through weekly staff meetings, quarterly supervisory meetings and daily interface.
  • Reviews and approves work for all new or potential customers based on corporate guidelines, specifice competition or strategic accounts.
  • Reviews and approves all proposals for accuracy, format and content based on division and corporate guidelines.
  • Is involved either directly or indirectly, in the recruiting, interviewing, hiring and firing process of all individuals in the organization.
  • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of NEC, EIA/TIA. BICSI and other related industry standards as well as state and local codes and regulations in the area of responsibility.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum 7 years in Business Management, Telecommunications or Building Construction.
  • Minimum 4 year College Degree, or 10 years equivalent experience.
  • Industry related courses such as PM certification, BICSI certification, Business and Construction Management, RCDD preferred.
